We are a collective of small business owners, residents (youth, parents, elders) and surrounding community members who offer various skills in cultural work, development, healing, arts, organizing, land connection, research, public governance and more.

I rise up because my lived experiences have radicalized me to do so. I am a teenager that's very disappointed in the system. I, along with young people across this county, are ready for a revolution. A society where working class people have their needs met. A society where BIPOC have safety and total power over what happens in our communities.

Born and raised in St Paul, I feel most at home in the areas that raised me. From the parks and playgrounds to the restaurants and shops, I want to see our neighborhoods provide the resources necessary for our community to thrive. The only way we can do that is by listening to the people. Combining voices that have been here for decades with those that are newly developing will ensure that our area is strong for years to come. We all deserve to be a part of the decision making process.

I've lived in the Midway for 17 years. The Midway reminds me of the neighborhood that I grew up in in Pennsylvania - strong and resilient. I’m part of Midway Rise Up because I'm tired of seeing outside influences take over our neighborhood. I’m tired of rubber stamp decisions being made. I’m tired of empty spaces and seeing friends and neighbors leave because they can’t afford it. I want to see TRUE community engagement and ideas, not just those invited to the table. I want to see a space where our young people lead.

As a mother, small business owner and active community member of Midway, I Rise Up for the next generation of families and community leaders. I want to see more affordable housing, spaces to generally socialize locally, shop locally, and a skate park! I envision a community who values Youth, Elders and families of all circumstances. I envision a community where Black & Indigenous People are always valued. I believe if we don't get involved, decisions will be made without the communities best interest in mind.
